UPDATES:
THE MOVE TO MÉRIDA GUIDE, TREN MAYA,
CALLE 47 GASTRONOMY CORRIDOR,
LA PLANCHA PARK,
AND NEW EVENTS FOR 2024!!!

Exciting things are happening! This newsletter highlights what's going on with subsequent newsletters going into more details. Let's see what's new!

First things first - I've been a bit delayed with sending out the newsletter because I'm almost finished with The Move to Mérida Guide. Everything has been sent for the final cover design, formatting, etc. I expect to have a sample in the next couple of weeks! Once that's ready and final edits are made, the guide will be available Amazon (Kindle and printed), and printed in Guadalajara for availability in Mérida! Check out the Table of Contents for this and The All About Mérida Guide - coming Spring of 2024. To be added to the notification list, reply to this email.

Tren Maya sold out of its first set of tickets in minutes! The entire route is not yet open but you will find more details on their Facebook Page. President AMLO, Governor Vila, and Mayor Barrera rode a portion of the track successfully a few weeks ago. Everyone is very excited about this wonderful addition to the community. You can learn more on the Tren Maya official website.

The much anticipated Calle 47 Gastronomy Corridor is finally open. Beautifully designed with new sidewalks, concrete benches and large planters with trees line the street. Reduced to one lane for cars, it gets congested. So plan accordingly to arrive at your destination on time. Diario de Yucatan has some great information and photos - be sure to translate using your browser and a translation extension.

Traveling from the Gastronomy corridor east on Calle 47, you'll find La Plancha Park, in the works for the last 7+ years. Many predicted it would never happen, but it's almost finished! Final construction will continue into 2024. Encompassing the area for the old train station, La Plancha Park serves as a community park, event center, gastronomy destination (street food), and much, much more. Train cars are featured throughout the park, with some used as food trucks. Find out more on their Facebook Page. This article on Yucatan Magazine has some great aerial images and examples of how the park connects with the IeTram, electric transportation - more about this in another newsletter.

Life in Mérida July 17, 2024 Newsletter Celebrating the 2.5 years it took me to get residency! One of the things we tell our clients is the process of going through residency helps set the stage for what to expect and the massive differences they will experience when living in Mérida vs. where they are moving from. It's not easy, it's not simple and it can take a long adjustment period. Just like the residency process, if you're not prepared, you can lose time, money, energy, and effort. This...
